source told Efe news agency on Thursday. Killed in the attack was Radwan Taleb Hussein al-Hamduni, appointed as the IS "wali" or governor of the area, the commander of the Liberation Force of the northern province of Nineveh, Gen. Khaled al-Hamdani, told Efe.
Also killed was al-Hamduni's assistant and an unidentified IS leader with Saudi Arabian nationality. Al-Hamdani also said that last week dozens of IS leaders and fighters were killed in strikes on the jihadis'
positions by the US-led coalition near Mosul. Al-Hamduni was accused of being responsible for the deportation of thousands of families belonging to the Turkmen minority and the killings of dozens.
