In other words he is that hero who fights against wrongdoers and also inspires others to do the same. Meanwhile he gets married to Lakshmi Menon and develops a healthy bond with her father, played by Rajkiran,
only after disliking him in the first place. At one point of time he gets violent enough to injure his father-in-law and later repents and understands the value of a father figure. While going about his usual business, Karthi, unexpectedly and unfortunately runs into a terrifying villain played by Super Subbarayan.
Things change dramatically when Karthi hampers his unusual routine thus starting a war of sorts. What are the consequences and losses incurred while engaging in a battle between good and the evil? Where and how does the movie end forms the remainder of the story which is narrated in an intriguing fashion.
Performances: Packed with a wonderful star cast, Komban delivers when it comes to the artists' performances. All the lead actors and actresses have done justice to their characters. Karthi's almost perfect dialogue delivery, Lakshmi Menon's powerful performance, Rajkiran's screen presence and Kovai Sarala's
ability to pull off comical as well as emotional scenes all stand out. Super Subbarayan impresses with his silent yet brawny reactions and has done a decent job as a villain. Technicalities: Engaging screenplay and fascinating narration by M. Muthaiah, smart bit of editing by Praveen KL
and brilliant camerawork by Velraj makes Komban technically strong. Though the plot of the movie is not new to Tamil Cinema, the way it is put across with right mix of comedy, action, values of relationships and
sentiments work wonders for Komban. While only a few songs make you to tap your foot, background score too by G.V. Prakash is not praiseworthy which comes across as a surprise from an established music composer.
In spite of making the movie interesting, one might feel the editor could've chopped a few scenes as 2 hours and 40 minutes might test the audiences' patience a touch.
Overall View: Packed with all the elements required for a successful commercial entertainer, Komban delivers the goods.
Karthi-Lakshmi Chemistry The chemistry between Karthi and Lakshmi Menon has worked out well. It doesn't look like these two stars have come together for the first time as they look convincing enough as a pair.
