Purampokku" has a Historical Connection ??

Arya, Vijay Sethupathi , Shaam starring ‘Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’ directed by SP Jhananathan is at its final stages of Post production. The multi starrer film produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur for UTV Motion Pictures was widely known as ‘Purampokku’ earlier. The director who had attracted national acclaim with his earlier film ‘Iyarkai’ and the appreciation from one and all for his following film ‘E’ is all set to grab the attention again with ‘Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai’.
Cinematographer NK Ekambaram frames the shot from behind the lens. Ganesh Kumar is the Editor. Art Director Selva Kumar N is carving out the set designs. Debut Music director Varshan has composed some fabulous numbers which are sure to top the charts. Miracle Michael marks the stunt action for this action thriller movie.
Explaining the title which had been the talk of the town the director says, “The word ‘Purampokku’ have become abusive today. The word has a historical connection with the social life of Tamilians for ages. ‘Purampokku’ means ‘Common for all’ .
Apart from the residential area, ancient Tamils classified unused vast lands for the purpose of public utilities which is called as ‘Purampokku’ lands. They categorized those Purampokku lands nearly into 15 possible for social purposes like Irrigation, Grazing, Grave yard and Housing.
The commonly used areas like roads, bus stands, schools, hospitals are constructed by government in ‘Purampokku’ lands.
Similarly the Space, Sea, Land, Mountains, Air and Light is common for all. None can be called as the master or owner for the nature’s gift. The title ‘ Purampokku Engira Pothuvudamai ‘ was needed to stress on the forgotten fact that everything is common for all. ” says SP Jhananathan, the director.
“The Audio of the film will be released in the month of April and The film will hit the theaters on May 1st. The film’s title ‘Purampokku Engira Pothuvudamai’ in short ‘PEP’ is viral occupying the timelines of popular social media. The word ‘PEP’ has positively given an pep to the movie.” Says Dhananjayan, the Associate Producer , UTV Motion Pictures.
