Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar starring Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Anjali and Soori in lead roles has released today. Directed by Suraj, the movie aims at entertaining its viewers with a heavy dose of comedy. Has it managed to do that?
What else does the film has to offer? Read our review to know. Sakalakalavallavan Appatakkar (U): Book Your Tickets Right Away! Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar Plot : Anjali and Jayam Ravi are in love with
each other and decide to get married. When everything is all set for their wedding, in a cinematic twist, Jayam Ravi is forced to marry Trisha. Thanks to their differences, their marriage never fructifies and they
often end up quarrelling with each other. Realizing that their marriage is leading them nowhere, they decide to file a divorce. The film then leads us to a mindless melodrama where Anjali and Trisha are made to represent two different parties, belonging to Soori and Jayam Ravi respectively,
at a local election. What is the outcome of this election? Will Jayam Ravi and Trisha find a way to make their marriage work or will Jayam Ravi revive his lost love with Anjali? These questions are answered in
the latter part of the film. Performances: The only bright performance comes from Jayam Ravi as he shines throughout. While Anjali has been made to flaunt her skin excessively, Soori 's character is aimed at delivering double meaning dialogues. Supporting actors have done what is required,
but if the stage is not strong enough for an artist to showcase his or her skills, the performance will often go unnoticed which is the case in Sakalakala Vallavan. Technicalities: The story takes its own time
to settle in the first half which is filled with some laughable comedy sequences. But the second half tests your patience completely, for the plot heads to a brainless finish. Cinematographer U.K.
Senthil Kumar makes the entire film colorful with bold choice of colors. His angles though offers nothing new and are pretty straight forward.
Editor R.K. Selva could've shortened the film's second half and Background score by Thaman gets too loud in many places.
Overall View: Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar has nothing new to offer as it is filled with clichéd comedy tracks and double meaning dialogues.
Overall, the movie is an attempt to deliver a fresh romcom which turns out to be quite outdated.
Principle Photography Principle shooting for this film began in Chennai exactly a year ago. The team later moved on to Pondicherry to shoot some important sequences.
Jayam Ravi And Anjali Sakalakala Vallavan can be called as Anjali's comeback flick as the actress hadn't appeared in Tamil cinema for a long time. Her script selection has to be better than this though.
Soori An important role has been assigned to Soori in this film. In fact, he is Jayam Ravi's main rival in their village.
Picturization of Songs All songs have been picturized poorly. Jayam Ravi has improved his dancing skills tremendously which stands out throughout the film.
Songs All songs have been rehashed from Telugu movies. 'Hit-u Song' from Race Gurram, 'Buji Ma Buji Ma' from Baadshah, 'Bulbu Vangittaen' from Tiger, 'Un Style Power' from Dookudu and 'Mandaiyum' from Rabhasa.
Poorna's Special Appearance Though all the songs have been reused, none of them have managed to recreate the magic of the original which comes across as a disappointment.
Women Objectification Women objectification has reached a whole new level in Sakalakala Vallavan Appatakkar which wouldn't be appreciated by female audience.
Jayam Ravi And Soori Jayam Ravi's chemistry with Soori has worked better than his chemistry with Anjali. Some of the punch dialogues and one liners delivered by the duo in picture is praiseworthy.
Jayam Ravi And Poorna It was earlier reported that Kajal Aggarwal will be a part of this film as a female lead. But later Trisha replaced the Jilla actress.
Box Office Success? I am not sure if the movie has enough in it to become a box office hit. Specially with two other Tamil films standing in its way, not to mention movies like Baahubali and Naalu Policeum Nalla Iruntha Oorum is still running successfully in many locations.
