Earlier it was 'Kaali' and then 'Kannabhiran' for a brief while and now it is 'Kabali'. If you are wondering what I'm talking about, these were the speculated titles of Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film. But just minutes ago, the director of the movie confirmed the official title of the film and it is Kabali indeed.
Being directed by Pa Ranjith, who is just two films old as a filmmaker, the shooting of Rajinikanth's next flick is expected to start in Malaysia come next month. Even before the project could go on floors,
many titles started to surface from every nook and corner of Kollywood. But sources close to the project kept refuting such claims, citing that the team is yet to lock a title for the flick until Pa Ranjith wrote on his Twitter page,
"கபாலி"( K A B A L I ).....magizhchi!!!!". The latest report has it that Rajinikanth's character name in the movie is Kabaleeswaran and hence the movie has been titled 'Kabali'.
Rajinikanth Says No To 'Kaali'? A report says that while Pa Ranjith was eager to name his film 'Kaali', Superstar Rajinikanth rejected the title as the name 'Kaali' is considered jinxed in Kollywood. It is to be noted that Rajini has already acted in a movie titled Kaali.
Ameer Has 'Kannabhiran' If yet another report is to be believed, director Ameer has already registered the title Kannabhiran and that the team has to seek his permission if they want Rajinikanth's next film to be titled as 'Kannabhiran'. Ameer had earlier given up on his title 'Lingaa' for the sake of the Enthiran actor and director KS Ravikumar.
Film To Have A Strong Religious Connection? All the speculated names; Kaali, Kannabhiran and now Kabali, are related to different Hindu deities. While Kaali refers to a Goddess, Kannabhiran is another name for Lord Krishna and Kabali refers to Lord Shiva.
Ranjith Finalizes The Cast Actress Dhansika being the latest addition, cast of the movie now looks almost complete with names like Prakash Raj, Radhika Apte, Kalaiyarasan of Madras fame and Dinesh of Cuckoo fame.
Film To Be A Quickie The team is hoping to wrap up the film in 60 days, according to a report. It is also considered as a relatively low budget affair for a Rajinikanth flick.
40 Years Of Rajinikanth Meanwhile, social media networks are abuzz with a certain tag #40YearsOfSuperstarRajinikanth. Fans and well wishers are celebrating with zest the completion of 40 successful years in the film industry by the biggest star of South Indian cinema.
