Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota, expressed, "Today, we are at a turning point in automotive history. A turning point where people will embrace a new, environmentally-friendly car that is a pleasure to drive."
He further added, "A turning point where a four-door sedan can travel 480 kilometres on a single tank of hydrogen, can be refuelled in under five minutes and emit only water vapour. A turning point that represents many years and countless hours of work by our team to create a car that redefines the industry. All of us at Toyota believe in a future that will be safer, greener and easier for everyone."
The Japanese engineers explain that the Mirai has been tested on both circuits as well as general streets. Toyota have also subjected their fuel cell vehicle to several crash tests. Their futuristic vehicle has also been tested in extreme cold and hot climates.
The Mirai by Toyota works purely on hydrogen and releases water vapour into the air. The fuel cell, which is provided in the vehicle creates enough electricity to power a house for an entire week. Hydrogen is easy to be made and Toyota claim they can make it even from garbage.
