Tamil Cinema: Highlights Of Last Week

As we bring to you the weekly round-up of Tamil cinema on each and every Monday, it is now time to take it back a little to learn and relearn about events that made up Kollywood last week(23rd of March to 29th of March).
Let us start off with what turned out to be a bad beginning to the week especially for Rajinikanth as one of his favourite politician Lee Kuan Yew passed away last week. Superstar wrote on his social networking page,

"Indeed a dark day as a leader I admired has passed on. I feel your sorrow S'pore. A true loss of a path breaking politician. #RIPLeeKuanYew". Another interesting news that cropped up last week took everyone by surprise. It was about

yesteryear actor Arvind Swamy being paired opposite model-actress Mugdha Godse. The slinky actress will make her Tamil debut in the Jayam Ravi-Nayantara starrer Thani Oruvan in which she will probably play

Arvind Swamy's wife, quite an interesting pair indeed. If anyone had thought that the week cannot just keep getting enthralling, they were absolutely wrong, for Kamal Haasan revealed that he was supposed

to do Pithamagan along with Sivaji Ganesan. He, later disclosed that it was actually the script of Pratap Pothen and was titled Pithamagan but unfortunately, the project never took off.

National Awards Kollywood bagged many National Awards last week with Bobby Simha, Na Muthukumar, Vivek Harshan and Uthara Unnikrishnan winning Best Supporting Actor, Best Lyricist, Best Editor and Best Female Playback Singer respectively.
