Hamari Adhuri Kahani Movie Review

Domestic violence and women trapped in bad marriages is very much a reality in India and the movie Hamari Adhuri Kahani brings out the same reality in celluloid. Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a Bollywood romantic drama and is supposed to be based on the real-life story of Mahesh Bhatt's parents, Nanabhai Bhatt, Shirin Mohammad Ali and his stepmother.
Hamari Adhuri Kahani Plot: Hamari Adhuri Kahani is a story about three characters, a rich and senstive man, Emraan Hashmi (Aarav), married woman Vidya Balan (Vasudha) and her psycho husband, Rajkummar Rao (Hari).

Vidya Balan is trapped in a marriage with Rajkummar Rao who kept torturing her as a mark of his love, until he suddenly goes missing for five years. On the other side, Emraan

Hashmi comes across lonely Vidya Balan and falls in love with her. After much emotional battle, Vidya Balan finally accepts Hashmi's marriage proposal, but then Rajkummar Rao makes a comeback.

Will Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan be able to built up their palace of love or the love birds will have to bury down all their

emotions makes the crux of the story. Hamari Adhuri Kahani Performances: With stars like Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi and Rajkummar Rao, we can't have much doubt about the performances.

All the stars performed well and did justice to their roles. Hamari Adhuri Kahani Negatives: Mohit Suri garnered much appreciation for his last film Ek Villain but we are

afraid that the director wont enjoy much praisings for Hamari Adhuri Kahani. Although, the concept of the film is quite an emotional one, the film turns monotonous with too much cliches

and typical filmy dialogues. There are certain scenes which the director might have used to interpret an inner meaning but appeared too unreal, for example, one scene shows Vidya Balan walking down a deserted road with a luggage but the road by no chance will lead to

any airport or station. Hamari Adhuri Kahani Positives: The plot of the film is good but it could have been better. Apart from the stars' performances, the film has some good songs which will connect with the audience. The movie includes some very exotic locations.

First half of the film seems slow but the second half offers some memontum with the entry of Rajkummar Rao. Hamari Adhuri Kahani Verdict: All in all, this film fails to match the expectations it created after the release of the trailer and it should be watched by those who like cheesy dialogues and a lot of shedding of tears.
