2nd Thikkurissi Film Awards Winners List


The 2nd Swayamvara-Thikkurissi Film Awards, instituted by Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair foundation have been announced. The awards were announced by jury members consisting of cinematographer Ramachandra Babu, Dr Oman Kutty, Director Balu Kariyath, Attingal Vijayakumar and Suku Palkulangara.
Dulquer Salmaan bagged the Best Actor award for his extra-ordinary performance as freedom fighter KTN Kottur and blogger Ravi Chandrasekhar in Ranjith directed Njaan and biker Arjun in Anjali Menon directed Bangalore Days. Bhama, the actress who delivered an electrifying performance as Kala, a teenager who

becomes a mother at the age of 14 in the movie Ottamandaram, won the award for Best Actress. Bangalore Days is the Best Popular Film. Biju Menon and Nikki Galrani won the awards for Best Popular Actor, for their performances in the movie Vellimoonga. Anjali Menon, who directed the blockbuster movie Bangalore Days, is the Best Popular Director. Ranjith Sankar, who scripted the popular movie Varsham, 

is the best screenplay writer. Ottamandaram bagged seven awards; including the awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Music Director and Best Singers-Female. Vinod Mankara won the award for Best Director. Ramesh Narayan bagged the award for Best Music Director. 

Shaan Rahman won the special jury award for his contributions in 2014. Sameer Thahir won the award for Best Cinematographer, for Bangalore Days. Joy Mathew bagged the Best Supporting Actor award, for his performances in various movies. Sajitha Madathil won the Best Supporting Actress award 

for her performance in Ottamandaram and Njaan. Interestingly, the mother-daughter duo Sujatha and Swetha won the awards for Best Singers-Female, for the songs from Ottamandaram. Vijay Yesudas bagged the award for Best Male Singer, for the movie Angry Babies. Haricharan Sheshadri and Remya Nambeesan 

are the Best Popular Singers. Rajeev Alunkal, who penned the songs for Angry Babies, is the best lyricist. The date and venue of the award ceremony is yet to be decided. Check out the slides for the complete list of award winners.

Bhama (Best Actress) Bhama bagged the trophy for Best Actress, for her performance in the movie Ottamandaram, directed by Vinod Mankara.

Best Movie Ottamandaram, directed Vinod Mankara won the award for Best Movie. The movie, which revolved around a teenage girl, who gives birth to a baby at the age of 14, has won huge critical acclaims.

Best Popular Movie Bangalore Days, the blockbuster movie directed by Anjali Menon bagged the award for Best Popular Movie. The movie, which revolves around the lives of three cousins, emerged as the second highest ever grosser of Malayalam cinema.
