Thanga Pathakkam Thanga Pathakkam is a 1974 classic directed by P. Madhavan. Starring Sivaji Ganesan, KR Vijaya and Shrikanth in the lead roles, it completed a 182-day run at the box office and was remade in Hindi as Farz Aur Kanoon.

Kuruthipunal This 1995 action thriller was directed by veteran cinematographer PC Sreeram. The film stars Kamal Haasan and Arjun Sarja in lead roles. The film met with critical acclaim and was India's official entry for the 68th Academy Awards under Best Foreign Language Film category.

Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu is a 2006 crime-detective-thriller film written and directed by Gautham Menon. Starring Kamal Haasan, Jyothika, Kamalinee Mukherjee and Prakash Raj it was one of the first Indian films to make use of Super 35mm technology.

Kaakha Kaakha This 2003 crime thriller was yet again directed by Gautham Menon and was the first of his cop trilogy. Starring Suriya, Jyothika and Jeevan, the film released to highly positive reviews and went on to become the first Biggest Blockbuster in Suriya's career.

Anjathe Anjathe was directed by Mysskin. The film opened to rave reviews for its technical expertise, avant-garde filmmaking and for the performance of actor Narain.. It was subsequently remade in Kannada as Anjadiru.

Kaaki Sattai Starring Kamal Haasan and Ambika in the lead, Kaaki Sattai completed 100 days at the box office. The movie received positive reviews from almost all critics and was about a man with aspirations to become a cop.

Saamy Saamy is a 2003 film directed by Hari. Theatres in Chennai had almost 100% occupancies when this film was released and it managed to recover all its budget within 4 to 5 days. It was also remade in Bengali as Barood and in Hindi as Policegiri.

Moondru Mugam Starring Rajinikanth in triple roles, Moondru Mugam was a mega hit blockbuster and completed a 250-day run at the box office. The film was remade in Hindi as John Jani Janardhan, in Kannada as Gedda Maga and in Telugu as Mugguru Mongallu.

Yennai Arindhaal Though this movie was released only recently, it has all the ingredients in it to become one of the best cop story Tamil cinema has ever produced. Once again directed by Gautham Menon, Yennai Arindhaal stars Ajith, Trisha and Anushka in the lead.

Captain Prabhakaran Captain Prabhakaran is a 1991 film directed by RK Selvamani. It features Vijayakanth in the lead role and was his 100th film, after which he earned the nickname "captain". The film was a commercial success in South India upon its release.
