Valasarawakkam in Chennai now has a new theatre named after the late K Balachander, which was inaugurated by the Directors' Union last week.
It is to this theatre the Kaththi actor has contributed 15 lakhs and an undisclosed sum of rupees, which will be used to come up with a new auditorium,
according to a report by Indiaglitz. In the name of the legendary director, aspiring and upcoming filmmakers can now project their short films and documentaries every week for public viewing.
Balachander's movies were inspirational and it is only fair to honour him this way which now will inspire many upcoming directors.
Interestingly, Kamal Haasan too had said that he will come up with a drama theatre in order to honour his mentor, which will be useful to thousands of drama artists.
