KS Chithra, the veteran singer, is quite disappointed about Shreya Ghoshal's dominance in Malayalam music industry. Chithra stated that the music directors are preferring Shreya Ghoshal over the talented Malayali singers, in a recent interview. She remarked that Malayali youngsters are struggling to bag an opportunity,
while highly celebrated National singers are given maximum opportunities. Malayalis will wholeheartedly accept talents without inhibitions, but things are different in other language industries. At the same time,
KS Chithra also stated that Shreya Ghoshal is doubtlessly one of the finest singers in the country and one of her favourites. But, she feels that more preference should be given to the budding Malayali singers.
When she was asked about the reality shows, Chithra replied that such shows are good platforms for the budding singers, to improve their talents. But, the veteran singer feels that choosing playback singing as a career option is risky.
Chithra remarks that there are plenty of playback singers in the industry today and this is one of the prime reasons for finest talents remaining unnoticed. She also added that the singers who have a real passion for music is very less in number.
The singer, who was talking in the interview session which was held after the Government Onam Celebrations in Trivandrum, also revealed that she has not been celebrating Onam since last few years.
