The promise? They would say no to alcohol from that very moment. While their intention of kicking the habit sounds cool, their unnecessary slogans and squeals paved the way to create a huge commotion in and around the area.
Finally, the police department had to intervene in order to pacify the excited fans and to restore tranquility. Police have reportedly advised the fans not to engage in such activities before letting them go.
Incidentally, a leading publication had reported that a fan named Prakash raped a construction worker in Chennai after breaking away from his group who were celebrating an actor's birthday on the night of 21st of June. It was reported that Prakash was drunk at the time of the crime. Though the actor's name
wasn't mentioned, we suspect that this gruesome incident might've forced a clan of Vijay fans to take the above mentioned oath in front of the collector's office. Unfortunately, both these incidents have caused great distress to the public.
