'Vande Mataram' In London On August 15th: Is This An Appropriate Act By A.R. Rahman?

68 years ago, Indians were hardly allowed to open their mouth while facing an Englishman as India had fallen into the clutches of the British. After all these years, at the 69th Indian Independence Day Anniversary, a proud Indian would not only open his mouth but also make thousands of Britishers dance to his tunes.
Conducting a concert on August 15th at The O2 Arena in London, two time Oscar winning musician AR Rahman will wave his magical wand to cast a spell in an attempt to capture thousands of British people.

Unlike them, the Mozart of Madras would only be capturing their hearts. Though it is a proud moment for each and every Indian, a question might pop up in your head as you read this article; is it appropriate for a patriotic like Rahman to perform in a place like London while our country celebrates its 69th Independence Day? 

While a single person cannot decide if this act by India's most famous musician is right or wrong, it is our responsibility as a nation to voice out our opinion. But before you write down your thoughts in the comment box below,

Neeti Mohan The girl with the golden voice, Neeti Mohan who sang the famous 'Mona Gasolina' in the Rajinikanth starrer Lingaa will be a part of the team.

Javed Ali Javed Ali is fast becoming a popular singer in Tamil Nadu. His latest song 'Jingiliya' from Vijay's upcoming movie Puli  is being appreciated by many. He too will be a part of the concert.

Karthik Singer-composer Karthik will entertain the audience by crooning Tamil songs. According to a report Tamil and Hindi film songs will be presented to thousands of music lovers in the famous O2 Arena.

Haricharan Haricharan is the latest favourite of AR Rahman. Singing 4 out of 7 tracks in Kaaviya Thalaivan (Tamil version alone), Haricharan had managed to stir the envy of many by becoming the new blue-eyed boy in the eyes of Rahman.

Jonita Gandhi The singer who sings in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi and English languages will be a part of the concert as well. She is expected to sing some of her recently released songs in Hindi

'Vande Mataram' In London AR Rahman will also croon songs from his famous 1997 album 'Vande Mataram'. The concert will witness nearly 20,000 music lovers in one of the world's most famous arena.
